What happened in the last 24 hours — the stories the money will react to.
Kalshi Probes Well-Timed Bets on Trump’s Press Secretary Pick
Reuters, citing the Wall Street Journal, reports Kalshi is examining suspicious trades tied to President Trump’s pick for White House press secretary. The exchange is also, per NPR, bringing in a former FBI agent to fight money laundering, while CNBC reports the NBA commissioner wants access to prediction-market data to detect manipulation. Three headlines, one theme: who trades on what they know, and who gets to see it.
No market settles on the probe itself; the nearest Russia-focused contract on the board, "Putin out as President of Russia by Dec 31," sits at 2.8%, and the political desk was otherwise quiet overnight.
Georgia-Alabama Is the Weekend’s Most-Traded Game
Georgia meets Alabama today in the game that tops Kalshi’s college football board by volume. The market calls it close: Alabama 55%, Georgia 46%, with the price drifting two points toward Alabama over the past day. Nothing else on today’s slate has drawn more money, and the gap between the two sides is the narrowest among the top five games on the board.
Kalshi has Alabama as a 55% favorite over Georgia's 46% in the marquee #1 game on the board, with 1.15M contracts traded.
Texas-Oklahoma Priced as a Three-in-Four Proposition
Texas meets Oklahoma today in college football’s Red River rivalry, fifth on the board by volume at 562,000 contracts. Kalshi makes Texas a clear favorite at 75% to Oklahoma’s 26%, with no 24-hour move on either side. No sportsbook line matched in our slate, so the Kalshi price stands alone.
Kalshi prices Texas as a 75% favorite over Oklahoma's 26% ahead of today's game.
White Sox-Guardians Is Today’s Biggest Baseball Market
The White Sox and Guardians play today in the day’s most-traded baseball market, third on the whole board at 739,000 lifetime contracts — 692,000 of them in the last 24 hours, which tells you how recently the money arrived. Kalshi has Cleveland favored at 57% to Chicago’s 44%, with the White Sox side off one point on the day.
Kalshi has Cleveland favored at 57% over the White Sox's 44% in today's game.
Shanghai Masters tennis: Casper Ruud to beat Yunchaokete Bu — 86% (+27)
The men’s Shanghai Masters, a top-tier ATP tennis event: Casper Ruud’s contract to beat Yunchaokete Bu climbed to 86% from 59% a day earlier, while Bu’s side slid to 15% (−28). The match began at 3:30am ET, before this edition landed. Our read: the swing is points on a scoreboard, not news. By the time you read this the contract is tracking a live or finished match, not a forecast.
View market ↗Harry Kane wins the 2026 Ballon d’Or — 59.9% (+7.8)
Soccer’s Ballon d’Or, the annual award for the world’s best player: Harry Kane’s odds rose 7.8 points since yesterday morning to 59.9%, while Lionel Messi’s sat at 2.6% (−0.3). No public catalyst in our digest explains yesterday’s move, and the market is thin at $96K in liquidity. The market now treats the trophy as Kane’s to lose; a rival climbing past 20% would be the first sign otherwise.
View market ↗Gavin Newsom wins the 2028 presidential election — 12% (+3.1)
The 2028 US presidential election, priced by person: Gavin Newsom’s contract rose 3.1 points to 12% over the past day. That was the largest move among the leading names — Jon Ossoff sits at 11% (−1), Marco Rubio at 9.8% (+0.4), Kamala Harris at 4.5%. With 2.5 million contracts outstanding, three points is a lot of money changing hands, and it puts Newsom narrowly ahead of Ossoff in a race the market still treats as wide open. Nobody is above 20%, which is roughly where a name would start to look like a real favorite.
View market ↗A US–Iran ceasefire through Halloween at 76%?
A deal framework is on the table; the market still prices one chance in four that it breaks first.
The market has the US–Iran ceasefire holding through Oct 31 at 76% (−1); the shorter contracts, through Oct 12 and Oct 15, sit at 96% and 92%. The Oct 31 contract resolves in 21 days — and a breach could settle it any day before that.
The Maritime Executive reports that President Trump announced productive talks and extended the US–Iran ceasefire indefinitely, with no new attacks, under a 60-day deal framework that includes Strait of Hormuz access and sanctions relief and is set for a Geneva signing.
The neighbouring contracts frame the risk. “US announces end of Iranian blockade by Oct 15” sits at 6% (−4); “Kharg Island no longer under Iranian control by Oct 31” at 1.3%; a US invasion of Iran before 2027 at 15%. Traders are not pricing the blockade lifting this week, and they are not pricing escalation either.
Then the complication in the tape. Over the past day the Oct 31 contract slipped one point to 76%, while the Oct 12 contract ticked up 1.7 points to 96%. Our read: traders expect the ceasefire to survive the next five days and are far less sure about the sixteen after that.
What we cannot tell is what short of open hostilities counts as a break under the contract’s rules. Until that is clear, 76% is a price we can describe but not argue with. We revisit if Geneva signs, or once the Oct 15 contract settles.
Today’s markets deciding — a side, a price, a time. Trade idea means a documented edge; price to watch means a stated price would change our mind; watch means worth reading, no edge claimed. All markets open at send.
Today’s high temperature at Chicago Midway: the National Weather Service forecasts 80°, and YES needs 83° or warmer. That is a three-degree miss against our radar’s estimated forecast error of 1.4°. Priced 49% YES at 6:06am ET. Wrong if the afternoon runs hot.
College football’s most-traded game today at 1.15 million contracts. Alabama 55%, Georgia 46% — close to a coin flip, and the price drifted (+2) toward Alabama over 24 hours.
Baseball’s biggest market of the day: Cleveland 57%, Chicago 44%. It sits third on the whole board, with 692,000 of its 739,000 lifetime contracts traded in the last 24 hours.
College football’s Red River rivalry, priced as a three-in-four proposition: Texas 75%, Oklahoma 26%, with no 24-hour move on either side. Fifth on the board at 562,000 contracts.
The NFL’s biggest market for Sunday at 2.57 million contracts. Kalshi makes Jacksonville 76% to win outright; whether they win by more than 7.5 points sits at exactly 50%, a pure toss-up on the margin.
The biggest individual trades of the last 24 hours — who put money down, how much, and how it went.
Counter-Strike, a professional video-game shooter: in the ESL Pro League playoffs, two large bettors took opposite sides of the same FURIA–MOUZ series on Friday. Diabolical-Prize put $161K on FURIA at 41%, while fortnitethegoat667 put $333K on MOUZ at 59%. Only one of them can be right; no settlement has posted yet.
The US confirming aliens exist by New Year’s is priced at 3.1%. $108K traded on it in a day.
Eighty-two days, one very specific verb.
Will the US government officially confirm that aliens exist before 2027? The market prices it at 3.1% (+0.1), with $108K traded in the last 24 hours and $794K of liquidity behind it. The contract settles December 31, 82 days from now, which gives Washington until New Year’s Eve to issue the strangest press release in its history.
The word that matters is confirm. Our read of that bar: a hearing about unidentified objects is not a confirmation, and neither is a blurry declassified video. 3.1% is entertainment, not information — a few points of long-dated uncertainty, not a sign anyone expects a disclosure. That is still a lot of trading for a 3% outcome, but volume is not evidence that someone knows an announcement is coming, and a near-certain NO is not a guaranteed payout: losing shares pay nothing. ↗
